Indian Institute of Technology is offering summer internship programme. Interns will work on various projects in which several R&D projects are currently underway in the department, under the national mission. Interns will have to manage expenses during their stay in IIT Bombay on their own. Around 50% candidates will be selected based on their performance in a software contest. Remaining 50% candidates will be selected based on academic performance in their college/university, and on their technical accomplishments. The contest will test algorithms and programming skills.
Field of Internship: Interns will work on various projects in which several R&D projects are currently underway in the department, under the National Mission. The technologies interns will be working on will include Linux, C/C++, Java, Servlet, JSP, Android, PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Python, Apache, Tomcat, etc., for software projects. Clicker system development is based on TI chips, which have a micro-controller and a combined radio/transmit-receive facility.

Is this paid internship? No, Interns will have to manage expenses during their stay in IIT Bombay on their own. Internship and stay at IIT Bombay involves some expenditure to be incurred by interns. The approximate amounts are:
-Rs. 6000/- to be paid to the IIT Bombay academic office (Internship Fee’s)
-Hostel room rent of approximately Rs 1100/- per month or part thereof (totaling around Rs 2200/- for the internship period)
-Additional money (around Rs 20/-) per day if interns wish to rent a mattress + bucket
-Approximately Rs 130/- per day for food (breakfast, lunch, dinner) in the vacation mess
-Of these, IIT will pay Rs. 6000/- directly to the institute, on their behalf. They will have to bear rest of the expenses on their own.
Internship Description: IIT undertake a significant amount of software and hardware development work to support our efforts in the National Mission on Education through ICT. They have successfully launched an openedX based IIT BombayX MOOC platform. They are actively engaged in enhancing the online and blended MOOC education delivery models and effectiveness. In May-June 2015, around 90 interns worked on summer internship projects. These programs develop useful software for our initiatives while simultaneously enabling the participants to fulfill the summer internship requirements of their respective academic programs. Their feedback shows that their projects go a log way towards career development of the participants. Software developed last year has been publicly launched and will be used in this year’s software contest selection. As usual, they will be offering a fresh set of projects for summer – 2016.
