The University of Malta is pleased to offer the Funded Scholarship Position for Master of Science in Chemistry. This project financed by WizaR&D Ltd through the Marsa fund of the Malta Maritime Authority and the TAKEOFF Business Incubator.

The course may be offered in any area of study that falls within the academic responsibility of the Board in which the Faculty can offer advanced tuition, expert guidance, and supervision, subject to the availability of resources, after approval by Senate.

Eligibility

The Course shall be open to applicants in possession of one of the following qualifications:

  • The degree of Bachelor of Science with at least Second Class Honours in an area of study deemed by the Board to be relevant to the proposed area of study and obtained in the 10 years previous to registration for the Course
  • The Bachelor of Science with Third Class Honours in an area of study deemed by the Board to be relevant to the proposed area of study and obtained in the 10 years previous to registration for the Course, provided that the applicants have obtained other qualifications, including relevant experience, following their first cycle degree.
  • The Board, at its discretion, may also recommend the admission of applicants in possession of a Bachelor of Science with at least Category II in an area of study deemed by the Board to be relevant to the proposed area of study and obtained in the 10 years previous to registration for the Course, provided that the admission of such applicants shall be made conditional on the result of an interview and in such cases they shall be required to follow a preparatory program as specified in bye-law 5.
  • The Board, at its discretion, may also recommend the admission of applicants with a first cycle degree deemed by the Board to be relevant to the proposed area of study and obtained in the 10 years previous to registration for the Course, provided that the admission of such applicants may be conditional on the result of an interview and in such cases they may be required to follow a preparatory program as specified in bye-law 5.
  • Applicants whose first degree was obtained more than 10 years previous to registration for the Course may also be admitted following an interview to ascertain their capability to follow the Course. The Board may, at its discretion, require such applicants to follow a preparatory program as specified in bye-law 5.
  • Students from Malta as well as from outside Malta are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Applicants from outside Malta are required to contact the International Admissions Office to check the necessary requirements.

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: Applicants should submit their letter of application, a copy of their curriculum vitae and copies of their certificates. Applications must be sent by email to the Project Support Office at karen.cacciattolo-at-um.edu.mt and should be received by no later than noon on Monday 28 August 2017.
  • Admission Requirements: Applicants must be in possession of at least a B.Sc. (Hons) in Biology and Chemistry, or Chemistry with Materials obtained with at least Second Class Honours from the University of Malta, or a comparable degree from any other recognized University.
  • Language Requirements: Very good knowledge of English is a prerequisite.

Benefits: The scholarship is for an initial period of one year and carries a stipend of EUR 7,000 per annum with an additional EUR 3,000 per annum for bench fees.
