Global Security and Society Institute (GSSI) Joint PhD Scholarships, Australia

La Trobe University, in collaboration with Sheffield Hallam University, is delighted to announce the launch of the Global Security and Society Institute (GSSI) Joint PhD Scholarships. This initiative aims to foster innovative research in addressing complex global security challenges, including cybercrime, artificial intelligence, and modern slavery.

Eligibility for this scholarship extends to Australian or New Zealand citizens, Australian permanent residents, and international applicants newly enrolling in a PhD program in 2024. Applicants must meet the Doctor of Philosophy entry requirements and should not be receiving another scholarship greater than 75 per cent of the stipend rate for the same purpose. Priority is given to full-time candidates who have completed a Masters by Research or other significant research.

  1. Review the scholarship eligibility requirements.
  2. Contact the nominated lead supervisor for the preferred project to obtain their in-principle agreement.
  3. Complete and submit an application for admission into La Trobe’s PhD program by the deadline, indicating the relevant project code (GSS-24—).

Successful applicants will subsequently be invited to apply for admission into the PhD program at Sheffield Hallam University.
