Government of the Republic of Slovenia Bilateral Scholarships for Foreign Nationals, 2016-2017

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Slovenia is offering number of scholarship months to foreign nationals, on the basis of bilateral agreements.

This scholarship scheme is designed for university/college students or graduates and PhD applicants who wish to accomplish a part of their study at one of the Slovenian institution of higher education (in Slovenian language).

The Centre of the Republic of Slovenia for Mobility and European Educational and Training Programmes (CMEPIUS) is a public institution working in the field of international projects and international mobility

It performs two main tasks: co-ordinating the Lifelong Learning European Community Programme (successor of SOCRATES and LEONARDO da VINCI) and supporting development in education and training.

  • Course Level: Scholarships are offered for short time study stay or research (i.e. applicants either attend non-degree courses of their choice or pursue an independent research activity at the host institutions, depending on their qualifications and preferences).
  • Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded in the field of international projects and international mobility.
  • Scholarship Award: For the academic year 2016/2017, the scholarship comprises of:
  • 286 EUR per month – its amount is periodically reviewed and adjusted each January
  • free accommodation in the facilities of the Student Centre of the Universities (paid for by the Ministry directly to provider)
  • Basic medical insurance for non-EU applicants if there is no bilateral agreement on health insurance between Slovenia and the applicant’s home country (paid for by the Ministry directly to provider)
  • 52,50 EUR for subsidised meals -2,63 EUR/per working day via Student Organisation of Slovenia
  • Scholarship can be taken at Slovenia

Eligibility:

  • In order to apply for a scholarship, applicants must follow the given criteria:
  • This scholarships scheme is designed for university/college students or graduates and PhD applicants who wish to accomplish a part of their study at one of the Slovenian institution of higher education
  • Its length usually ranges from 3 to 10 months depending upon the agreement concerned that specifies also the categories of eligible recipients.
  • The scholarship cannot be awarded for a complete course of study leading to a degree.
  • Neither can the scholarship be granted for any Slovenian language course.
  • Please note that tuition fee cannot be covered from this scholarship.
  • Majority of the applications are admitted for short time study stay or research visits by doctoral

Nationality: Applicants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Montenegro, Poland, People’s Republic of China, Republic of Macedonia, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovakia, Switzerland and Turkey can apply for this scholarship.

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: To apply it is necessary to submit the online scholarship application form. The implementation of this scholarships programme in the Republic of Slovenia is assigned to the national agency: CMEPIUS – Centre of the Republic of Slovenia for Mobility and European Educational and Training Programmes.
  • Entrance Requirement: This scholarships scheme is designed for university/college students or graduates and PhD applicants who wish to accomplish a part of their study at one of the Slovenian institution of higher education (in Slovenian language).
  • English Language Requirement: The applicants for study stays should be proficient in the Slovene language unless the working language is agreed upon with the mentor/supervisor.
