International PhD Positions in Powdery Mildew (PM) Resistance in Tomato and Pepper, Netherlands

Scholarship opportunities provide any deserving and potential-filled student access to education, keeping this in mind, Wageningen University & Research has launched the International PhD Positions in Powdery Mildew (PM) Resistance in Tomato and Pepper. The university is accepting applications for the academic year 2024-2025.

The aim of this program is to groom highly motivated individuals interested in breeding crops resilient to diseases in agricultural production. With the pressing need to mitigate crop losses, estimated up to 40% of yield, this initiative targets the development of resistant plant varieties as an alternative to chemical control methods. Specifically, the research seeks to combat the increasing threat of Powdery Mildew (PM) infection in tomato and pepper production through the exploration of plant genetic resources and the application of advanced biotechnology and molecular breeding tools.
