Eligibility

Eligible Countries: Open to all nationalities
Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for a PhD program at the Centre of African Studies

Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a Master’s degree in African Studies, anthropology, development studies, geography, urban studies, or a related field (120 ECTS or equivalent).
  • Demonstrate the ability for independent research, typically evidenced by a Master’s thesis or similar work.
  • Possess high-level skills in written and spoken academic English.
  • Develop a PhD project proposal that aligns with the broad aims of the MUWUG project and situates itself within one of the defined site typologies in Kumasi, Ghana.

Benefits

PhD students will receive a salary according to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations, starting at approximately 30,700 DKK/month (roughly 4,100 EUR), plus 17.1% pension. The scholarship includes funding for fieldwork and conference participation, as well as opportunities for teaching and involvement in project meetings and workshops.
