In continuation to its education iversity is presenting an online course “The DO School Start-Up Lab” in collaboration with The Do School.
This course is all about converting your words into actions. This task has never been easy. Various crucial steps are involved to convert your great ideas into reality. The Start-Up Lab will help students to do so. This course is outlined for those people who have a definite and concrete idea as the course chains the authentic execution of these initiating steps. Here, students will be given an opportunity to provide social relevance to their ideas. The course offers resources and knowledge from inspiring leaders in the start-up community and provides insight into the learning experiences of other emerging social entrepreneurs. Participants will get a chance to come across with the questions which every entrepreneur answers’ during the commencement of business. This course will also provide an opportunity to exchange and talk about those ideas with other course students.

Duration of Course
The session of this course will start from 28th June 2014. The course will demand 12 hours/week for the duration of 8 weeks of study. The course will be taught in English.
Eligibility
The DO School Start-up Lab is designed for those students who already have a concrete idea for a communal project that they want to provoke. Here, the full focus is on creating new ventures with a strong social element, whether they’re businesses, non-profits, arts initiatives, or campaigns. This course will help students in focusing their social objectives; this is something students should be interested in from the beginning.
Course Syllabus
The course comprises of seven chapters will be allocated into 3-5 units each. The units of this course covers the significant steps which an entrepreneur need to undertake during the first months of initiating a new business enterprise:
Your idea: Add relevance and value.
Your plan: Manage your project.
Your legal context: Start on the right foot.
Your finances: Build a strong sustainable business case.
Your organization: Design your structure and operations.
Your communication: Reach your target market.
Your network: Build successful collaborations.
Statement of Accomplishment
An official statement of participation will be awarded to participants who will actively complete 80% of the course requirement.
About the Instructor
A number of instructors Romy Kraemer, Florian Hoffmann, Katherin Kirschenmann, Dr. Mei Wang and Rouven Steinfeld are associated with this course who will provide guidance to the participants to bring out their ideas into reality. Each and every instructor is specialized in his/her respective field. Introduction of couple of instructors’ are given below.
Romy Kraemer
She is an impassioned social entrepreneur coach and the Program Director of the DO School’s Venture Lab. Over 70 emerging social entrepreneurs, ranging from a young Moldovian beekeeper to a Chilean eco-activist have worked with her. She is still in the process of acquiring her PhD degree in Business-Society Management from Rotterdam School of Management.
Florian Hoffmann
Florian Hoffmann is the president and co-founder of the DO School. He is a social entrepreneur, adventurer and a believer that effective and efficient entrepreneurs worldwide can solve most of our local and global problems. He has acquired his MPhil in European Politics from the University of Oxford. He has also commenced various non-profit and social business enterprises in Switzerland, USA, Germany and Asia.
