Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: Candidates from nationals of developing countries are eligible to apply.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in the master of laws subject offered by the university
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • They are national of a country with a medium (113-151) or low (152-189) ranking on the HDI Index (see: https://hdr.undp.org/data-center/country-insights#/ranks).
  • Lack the financial means to follow the study program without the assistance of a scholarship.
  • Be highly motivated to follow the Master of Laws Advanced Studies program in International Children’s Rights.

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: Candidates must submit an online application for admission to the Master of Laws. After enrolling, they can fill out the online application for a scholarship at the university.
  • Supporting Documents: The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
  • A copy of a valid passport or ID card
  • Copy of a Dutch residence permit (if applicable)
  • CV (résumé)
  • Language proficiency (if applicable)
  • Copies of diplomas and transcripts
  • Letters of motivation
  • Letters of recommendation.
  • Admission Requirements: Students have to complete the admission requirements of Leiden University.
  • Language Requirement: Candidates have Proven English language proficiency, demonstrated by way of a TOEFL test (overall score of 100 Internet-based), or IELTS test (overall score of 7.0 – academic module only), or Cambridge English Proficiency certificate (CPE), occasionally complemented by a telephone interview.
  • In addition to those mentioned above, overall English test scores, minimum band scores of IELTS 6.0 (TOEFL 20) for speaking, listening and reading, and a minimum band score of IELTS 6.5 (TOEFL 22) for writing, are required.
  • English test results may be at most two years old!
