Lamar University is offering the University Scholars Scholarship to support high-achieving students. If you’re a first-time freshman with a strong GPA or qualifying test scores, you could receive $8,000 toward your tuition over four years.
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be first-time college freshmen with a high school GPA of 3.50-3.64 on a 5.0 scale and rank in the top 50% of their class, or have qualifying SAT (1010-1070) or ACT (19-21) scores. International students must meet the same SAT/ACT requirements. Homeschool students or those from schools that do not rank are also eligible without class rank criteria.

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a first-time college freshman (dual credit and AP courses are not disqualifying).
- Achieve a minimum high school GPA of 3.50-3.64 on a 5.0 weighted scale and rank in the top 50% of their graduating class OR submit qualifying SAT (1010-1070) or ACT (19-21) scores.

How to Apply
There is no separate application for this scholarship. Eligible students are automatically considered if they meet the criteria.
Additionally, students are encouraged to:
- Complete the LU Scholarship application in the myScholarships portal. for consideration for endowed scholarships.
- Submit the FAFSA or TASFA using code 003581 by the January 15th priority deadline for additional financial aid opportunities.
