LHRI YAHS and Brotherton Short Term Postdoctoral Fellowship at University of Leeds in UK, 2019

Leeds Art and Humanities Research Institute (LHRI) is awarding two new Postdoctoral fellowships for 2019, in collaboration with Special Collections and the Yorkshire Archaeological and Historical Society (YAHS).

These fellowships are designed exclusively for early-career researchers to make use of the YAHS Special Collections held within the Brotherton Library.

Scholarship Description

  • Applications Deadline: January 15, 2019
  • Course Level: Fellowships are available to pursue Postdoctoral programme.
  • Study Subject: Successful applicants will spend four weeks in Leeds to carry out research activities aimed at developing the fellow’s ability to make strong applications to externally-funded post-doctoral positions which must then be held at the University of Leeds (e.g. British Academy Post-Doctoral Fellowships; Leverhulme Early-Career Fellowships; Marie Sklodowska-Curie actions; Newton Fellowships, Marie Curie Fellowships, Wellcome Trust Research Fellowships, NERC Research Fellowships).
  • Scholarship Award: Fellows will carry out their research in Leeds over four weeks and submit a short report and blog post. Both schemes receive £2,000 living expenses and up to £500 travel expenses.
  • Nationality: Fellowships are available for international students.
  • Number of Scholarships: Numbers not given
  • Scholarship can be taken in the UK

Eligibility for the Scholarship

Entrance Requirements: Applicants must meet the following criteria:

Candidates who have completed their PhD at any university are eligible. Scholars who have completed their doctorate at Leeds are eligible to apply.

All candidates must have passed their PhD viva by the application deadline, but not earlier than April 2014. Exceptions to this rule may be allowed in certain circumstances, subject to prior agreement.

How to Apply: Completed application forms should be submitted to the LAHRI Administrator in advance of the deadline at 5pm on Tuesday, 15th January 2019.

Fellowships awarded should take place before the end of September 2019 (and prior to the intended application for an externally-funded fellowship).
