Lumley Top-Up Scholarships in Australia

The Kathleen Lumley Foundation, together with the University of Adelaide, is pleased to announce a scholarship for 2026 doctoral entrants. Students from any discipline with an existing primary PhD scholarship are invited to apply.

Eligibility generally includes being a postgraduate student enrolled at a recognised university in Adelaide and demonstrating a strong academic record. Applicants are usually expected to show commitment to their studies, contribute positively to the residential community, and meet any additional requirements set by the foundation. Both domestic and international students may be considered, depending on specific program criteria.

Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: Australia, New Zealand, and international (for eligible visa holders residing primarily in South Australia)
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in any subject offered by the university, provided the PhD research aligns with 3-4 UN SDGs and contributes to systemic change in health access and welfare.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • Hold a primary PhD scholarship awarded through an open and competitive process.

  • Be enrolled full-time in a PhD at Adelaide University (or commencing within 12 months of application).

  • Have a PhD research topic aligning with 3-4 UN Sustainable Development Goals with potential for systemic impact on health access and welfare.

  • Reside primarily in South Australia during PhD studies.
