Melbourne Access Scholarship for Undergraduate Students in Australia, 2014

University of Melbourne is inviting applications for Melbourne Access Undergraduate Scholarship available for Australian and New Zealand students. The University awards 170 scholarships per year, including 10 scholarships with a tuition fee (HECS) exemption. The Melbourne Access Scholarship provides for an allowance of $15,000 paid in six half-yearly instalments of $2,500. The scholarship may be extended with another year for students who enroll in the Bachelor of Arts Extended or a concurrent diploma at the same time as their Bachelor degree course at the University of Melbourne. Ten high-achieving students will also receive a tuition fee exemption for their Commonwealth Supported Place valued up to $30,500. The application deadline is 7th October 2014.

Eligibility: To be considered for a Melbourne Access Scholarship, you must:
-be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, or a New Zealand citizen; and
-have completed Year Twelve or International Baccalaureate in Australia in the year prior to commencing your course at the University; and
-not have been awarded results or subjects undertaken as part of a degree course at a tertiary institution in Australia; and
-have applied for Access Melbourne, the University’s special entry access scheme, using the VTAC Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) and included evidence that you: have a disadvantaged financial background; or are from a rural area or under-represented school; or experienced difficult circumstances; or have a disability or medical condition; or are from a non-English speaking background; or are an indigenous Australian
-The status of indigenous Australians must be confirmed by the Murrup Barak Melbourne Institute for Indigenous Development.

Scholarship Open for International Students: Students of Australia and New Zealand can apply for these undergraduate scholarships.

Scholarship Description: University-of-MelbourneMelbourne Access Scholarships were established by the University of Melbourne and awarded to commencing undergraduate students who gained admission to the University while having experienced difficult circumstances that impacted on their Year Twelve result.

Selection Criteria: This scholarship is offered to eligible students on the basis of the information provided in their SEAS application and their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).

Notification: The first offers are made a few days after the Victorian Year 12 ATAR are released in December. Further offers are made in January and February to students who have completed IB or Year Twelve outside Victoria.

How to Apply: You do not need to submit an application for this scholarship. Eligible students who have applied for admission to the University using the VTAC SEAS will be automatically considered for this scholarship. Scholarship offers are conditional on receiving an offer for admission to a University of Melbourne undergraduate degree.

Scholarship Application Deadline: The application deadline is 7 October 2014.
