The Mexican Government is inviting students to apply for the Mexican Government Scholarships. The awards are available to study master’s or doctorate degree in Mexico.

The scholarships are offered to more than 180 countries through a series of bilateral conventions, multilateral programs, and special agreements. More than 70 Mexican institutions participate and all offer academic programs registered with the National Council for Science and Technology (CONACYT) as National Quality Graduate Programs.

  • The scholarships will be awarded on academic excellence.
  • The scholarships for academic studies are offered to take complete programs for Specialization, Master’s or PhD. Degrees, and Postgraduate Researches. Likewise, the offer includes academic mobility for Bachelors and Postgraduate Degree. On the other hand, the scholarships for special programs are offered Preferred to take short-term fellowships addressed to Visiting Professors, Researchers in Mexico’s issues, Media Contributors, Art Production Fellowships, etc.
  • Scholarships are available to study for a specialization, master’s degree or doctorate, conducting graduate or postdoctoral research, or taking part in an undergraduate or graduate-level academic mobility program.
  • Scholarships are provided to study any one of the courses available at participating Mexican institutions except Business administration, Plastic surgery, accounting, marketing, dentistry, Odontology, and advertising.
  • Except in special cases, scholarships cannot begin in November or December.
  • All documents and forms must be in Spanish or submitted with translations into Spanish.
  • Candidates will be informed of the results by the corresponding Mexican embassy or designated Mexican institution.

Research stay at the Master’s level, a monthly amount for maintenance of 4 (four) times the monthly value of the Unit of Measurement and Update (UMA), currently equivalent to $11,700.36 monthly Mexican pesos. The Unit of Measurement and Update (UMA) is subject to the changes established by law. (Child support delivered a month in arrears).

For PhD scholarships; Doctoral Research Stays and Postdoctoral, Medical Specialties and Subspecialties, an amount monthly for maintenance of 5 (five) times the monthly value of the Unit of Measurement and Update (UMA), equivalent today at $14,625.45 in Mexican pesos. The Unit of Measurement and Update (UMA) is subject to the changes established by law. (Child support delivered a month in arrears).

Enrollment and tuition, in accordance with the provisions of the program of each Mexican Educational Institution (Annex 1), and subject to the final decision of each Institution (Annex 2), issued through the acceptance letter.

Medical insurance through the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), whose validity will begin from the seventh month of scholarship, and with a duration corresponding to the scholarship period granted. In the case of Private Institutions, AMEXCID will be responsible for this management.

In the case of Public Universities, it will be directly with that Higher Education Institution.
