Theme: The role of media and social networks for an enhanced infection surveillance and outbreak detection during the Olympics 2012

Gathering and mining information from social networks can enhance communicable disease outbreak detection and preparedness, and provide an early warning for public health authorities. During mass gathering events, this non-healthcare source of real-time information is of immense importance.

Applicants are required to submit a:

1. completed application:
2. research proposal of no more than three sides of A4 addressing the theme above.
3. non-technical summary of the proposed research of no more than 400 words
