PhD Position Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel

A two years research/PhD position (13 TV-L/2) is available at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel, the Department of Molecular Phytopathology (Director: Prof. Dr. Daguang Cai) for the project: ?The application of functional genomic tools for development of new resistance sources to soil-born fungi pathogen  Verticillium longisporum in rapeseed (Brassica napus)?.

The project will focus on plant-pathogen compatible interactions aiming at identification of key genes involved/required in the infection process. The knockout of such genes will be expected to result in plant-pathogen incompatible interactions.

In the framework of the project, a successive gene-expression profiling-based approach in combination with phytopathological investigation will be established for identification of candidate genes; The RNAi strategy and rapeseed TILLING mutant populations (TILLING: Targeting induced local lesions in genomes) will be employed for generation of corresponding mutants. The ?loss-of-function? mutants that show a complete resistance or a strongly reduced susceptibility to the pathogen infection will be selected for breeding rapeseed resistance to the pathogen infection.

The applicant will be working in a research team and is expected to have a solid background and experiences in the field of plant molecular genetics and molecular Phytopathology as well.

The applicant should respond before 31 May to

It is pleasure to me to write you. First of all, my name is Mahmoud A. M. Abdullah. My permanent work is researcher and Assistant lecturer in Animal Production Dep., Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut University, Egypt. Nowadays, I am in Department of Animal production, Faculty of Agriculture, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece to train in new techniques in labs. Moreover seeing another cultures. I have published Book entitle:Canola Meal as A new Protein Source for Sheep in Egypt – ISBN: 978-3-639-23919-5 VDM edition, 143 pages. and Abistract in conferance ” Ashraf S. Awaad Ahmed1, Ibrahim A. Submited in XXXVIIIth congress of the European Association of vetrenaren anatomist(28-31 july 2010) paris, France (Impublished)

I am interested in animal production; I have got the M.Sc. in animal nutrition entitle “Canola meal versus undecorticated cottonseed cake and soybean meal as a protein supplement in growing lambs rations”. I would like to learn from your school. I have a lot of experience in this field. I am eager to bring to your laboratory the benefit of my experience, qualifications and skills.
