Scholarship Description: The Synthetic Biology Group at the University of Freiburg and the Cluster of Excellence BIOSS (Centre for Biological Signaling Studies) invites applications for a PhD position in Synthetic Biology.
The aim of the project is the design and construction of synthetic biology tools and their application in tissue engineering and the production of high-value biopharmaceuticals.

The interdisciplinary project at the intersection of cell biology and engineering science offers the opportunity to get familiar with a wide array of technologies like molecular biology, mammalian cell technology, protein production, purification and characterization as well as small to medium scale bioreactor operation.

The project will be anchored within our interdisciplinary and international research group allowing close training and supervision as well as intense collaborations and exchanges with our international partners.

The successful candidate holds a diploma in biochemistry, biotechnology or biology and has a strong background in molecular biology, protein chemistry or mammalian cell culture and shows a great interest in getting familiar with the other disciplines involved.
