PhD Research position in the Department of Biological Regulation at Weizmann Institute of Science in the group of Lilach Gilboa for 4 years. Oogenesis in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster is a favourite model system for the study of stem cells in-vivo.
To discover new genes that affect stem cell formation and maintenance, I performed a misexpression screen in the larval ovary, at the time when germline stem cells are established. This screen uncovered several very new and interesting genes and pathways that, when misexpressed, cause precocious germ cell differentiation.
