The Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics is an institute of the German Max Planck Society and the only institution in the world entirely devoted to psycholinguistics. Our mission is to undertake basic research into the psychological and biological foundations of language. The goal is to understand how our minds and brains process language, how language interacts with other aspects of mind, and how we can learn languages of quite different types. Nijmegen is a vibrant university town situated two hours from Amsterdam, and has easy access to Belgium and Germany.

The successful candidate will develop a dissertation project within the new Individual Differences in Language Production and Language Comprehension Group headed by Prof Antje Meyer. The project will be supervised by Dr Falk Huettig. The precise nature of the project will be agreed in collaboration with the successful candidate, but it should concern the interaction of visual, conceptual, and linguistic processes during language production and/or comprehension or the determinants of individual differences in language production or comprehension skills. The research may involve a variety of methodological approaches, including the use of eye-tracking and neuroscience techniques.

Applicants should have a good first degree in Psychology or a related discipline.

Closing date for application is May 24, 2009. Interviews will be held around July 1.

The Max Planck Society is an equal opportunity employer. The business of the institute is conducted in English.

Applicants should send their CV, a short statement of research interests, an example of their writing, and the names and contact details of two referees to:

    Dear Sir
I am a M.A holder in “Teaching Persian to non-Persians”.
My MA. thesis(2008) was ” Lexico-semantic Errors and code switching in the speech of Mazandarani ( Baboli) Speakers of Persian”.
Writing the thesis, I was in contact with some scholars in psycholinguistics such as McSwan, Paradis,. This field is what I really love. I had new things in my thesis regarding to interference and codeswitching. I want to research in psycholinguistics and help to promote this great field. I have published two articles, one on “Bilingualsm definitions” and the other on “codeswitching”.
It is a great opportunity if you accept me in order to study my field of interest. It is a great opportunity if you please contact me and say yes , you can come and study your field of interest.
    Regards
    Purmohammad
