University of Warwick is inviting applications for PhD scholarship for well-qualified UK or EU students. Applicants will work on a project related to modeling of random materials. The project includes development of models for random microstructures, uncertainty quantification in computational mechanics, and stochastic homogenization techniques. The Scholarship will pay an annual stipend at the standard rate (currently £13,863) and tuition fees at the Home/EU rate for three years. Eligibility: Due to funding restrictions this award is available for well-qualified UK or EU students. Other motivated students are encouraged to apply but will need to secure their own funding. Candidates should hold a 1st or 2.1 degree, the ideal candidate will have a Masters Degree in the Sciences or Engineering, strong mathematical background and experience in programming (preferably C++). Applicants with interests in high performance computing or any aspects of materials modelling will be given preference.

Scholarship Open for International Students: UK/EU and international students can apply for the scholarship.

Scholarship Description: We are looking for PhD students to work in a project related to modeling of random materials. The project includes development of models for random microstructures, uncertainty quantification in computational mechanics, and stochastic homogenization techniques. Stochastic modeling of materials and development of related uncertainty quantification techniques is in the frontier of computational science and engineering and the particular project provides unique opportunities for professional academic or industrial growth.

What does it cover? The Scholarship will pay an annual stipend at the standard rate (currently £13,863) and tuition fees at the Home/EU rate for three years. Overseas students may apply and, if successful would be required to make up the difference in fees between the home and the overseas rates.
