( votes)Eligibility: Due to funding restrictions this award is available for well-qualified UK or EU students. Other motivated students are encouraged to apply but will need to secure their own funding. Candidates should hold a 1st or 2.1 degree, the ideal candidate will have a Masters Degree in the Sciences or Engineering, strong mathematical background and experience in programming (preferably C++). Applicants with interests in high performance computing or any aspects of materials modelling will be given preference.

The project includes electronic structure calculations, atomistic/molecular modeling, mesoscale and continuum approaches. Multiscale modeling of materials is in the frontier of computational science and engineering and the particular project provides unique opportunities for professional academic or industrial growth.
