Applications are invited for Postdoctoral and Doctoral Scholarship programme at the Open University of Tanzania. These scholarships are open to Tanzanian students (Mainland and Island).

Scholarship Description

  • Applications Deadline: October 1, 2018
  • Course Level: Scholarships are available to study Doctoral and Postdoctoral programme.
  • Study Subject: The project focuses on fostering environmentally sustainable and responsible practices at hotels in Zanzibar.
  • Scholarship Award: The PhD scholarship will be for 3 years. The PhD student will receive a full scholarship over this time frame. The full scholarship covers the University fees and direct student costs (i.e. a stipend, research costs, publications, conference costs, and dissertation production costs). The direct student costs are determined by the project management.
  • The Post-doctoral scholarship will be for 2 years. The Post-doctoral researcher will receive a full scholarship over this time frame. The full scholarship covers the University fees and direct costs which will be paid to the researcher (i.e. a stipend, research costs, publications, and conference participation costs). The direct cost to the researcher are determined by the project management
  • Nationality: The scholarship is open to Tanzanian students (Mainland and Island).
  • Number of Scholarships: One PhD and one Postdoctoral position are available.
  • Scholarship can be taken in Tanzania

Eligibility for the Scholarship

Entrance Requirements: Applicants must meet the following criteria:

PhD Requirements:

  1. Applicants must meet the Open University of Tanzania admission requirements. (Please check the admission requirements for PhD at www.out.ac.tz)
  2. Motivational letter (Maximum 2 pages)
  3. A maximum of 2-page of Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  4. Recognized Master degree in organizational studies, institutional studies, tourism managementor related disciplines
  5. Good command of English (written and oral)
  6. Willingness to work in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural team
  7. Enthusiasm to learn and apply social research methods
  8. A recommendation letter from the current employer and/or previous supervisor / educator.
  9. Research concept note grounded in the objectives of the project and particularly Work Package 3 objective.

Postdoctoral Position:

  1. PhD in relevant fields
  2. Strong methodological skills
  3. Self-organized person who is attentive to details
  4. Expertize or experience in organizational theory
  5. Willingness to work in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural team
  6. Evidence of publications or the manuscripts approved for publications (submit some published materials)
  7. Research concept note grounded in the objectives of the project and particularly Work Package 3 objective.

English Language Requirements: Applicants must have Good command of English (written and oral).
