The Toronto Metropolitan University is offering applications for Postdoctoral Fellowships for Black Scholars in Canada for the academic year 2023-2024.

This postdoctoral position is open to applications from black (of African descent; for example, Africans and African heritage people from the Caribbean, Americas, and Europe) students. The candidates must possess a PhD degree from the university. Successful candidates will get $70,000 per year to support up to two years of postdoctoral salary for four (4) Black scholars.

Eligibility

• Eligible Countries: Students from Black (of African descent; for example, Africans and African heritage people from the Caribbean, Americas, and Europe) are eligible to apply.
• Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for a PhD degree in any subject offered by the university
• Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the given criteria:
• Applicants who self-identify as Black (of African descent; for example, Africans and African heritage people from the Caribbean, Americas, and Europe).
• Applicant completion of a PhD or PhD equivalent within the last three years before the application deadline, or PhD expected by the planned start date of the fellowship.
• They can hold the fellowship for two years by September 5, 2023.
• Successful applicants must be eligible to work in Canada by the start of the Postdoctoral position. The exceptional start dates may be negotiated about the permit and visa process timelines. International applicants may apply; however, successful international applicants will require a work permit and Canadian Social Insurance Number to take the postdoctoral position.
• They must be associated with a current or proposed supervisor who holds a tenured or tenure-track faculty position at TMU and must include a letter of support from the proposed supervisor.
• This funding cannot be held concurrently with another major fellowship.
• Applicants cannot have a faculty position or be on leave from such a position.
• Applicants must submit proof of completion of the degree before the fellowship commences.

• A scholarly, research, and creative (SRC) activity proposal
• A letter of support from the proposed supervisor
• Admission Requirements: All eligible applicants must meet the entry requirements to study at the Toronto Metropolitan University.
