Postdoctoral Research Fellow Position in Structural Geology, Norway

The University of Bergen (UiB) invites applications for the Postdoctoral Research Fellow Position in Structural Geology at the Department of Earth Science. This prestigious program aims to advance scientific understanding of coal entrainment effects in deformation bands and faults within porous siliciclastic reservoir rocks. The project forms part of the DEFCOAL initiative, funded by Aker BP and UiB, and is designed to prepare the fellow for future top-level academic roles.

Applicants must hold (or have submitted) a PhD in structural geology or a closely related field, possess strong field-based and microstructural analysis experience, and demonstrate potential to conduct top-tier research. Additional expertise such as rock deformation experiments, image analysis, or spectroscopy techniques will be advantageous. The program seeks to develop cutting-edge research on the structural, mechanical, and petrophysical impact of coal and carbonaceous material in geological formations.
