Eligibility: -The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has a strategic ambition of being a leading research faculty. Candidates for these fellowships will be selected in accordance with this, and expected to be in the upper segment of their class with respect to academic credentials.
-The candidate must have a PhD or other corresponding education equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in meteorology, oceanography or related areas. In addition, the candidates need to have experience in carrying out simulations with numerical models for the atmosphere, either Numerical Weather Prediction models or Earth System Models.
-Good programming skills and experience with Linux/UNIX environments are required.
The candidate will carry out simulations using NorESM, and will also lead the interpretation of results from the model simulations, using available observations for validation. The candidate is expected to lead the writing of scientific papers dealing with the results obtained.
-The main purpose of post-doctoral research fellowships is to qualify researchers for work in top academic positions within their disciplines.

Scholarship Description: A 2.5-year Postdoctoral fellowship is vacant within modeling of clouds and their interactions with aerosols and climate, at the Section of Meteorology and Oceanography (MetOs). The Section carries out research on various physical, dynamical and chemical aspects of the climate system, often in the context of climate change. Important tools in this research are earth system models, regional atmospheric models, advanced satellite data and data from field campaigns.
