  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: Any graduate degree program related to the disciplines represented in the Division of History and Social Sciences at Reed College. Preference for areas including the history, politics, economics, sociology, anthropology, or law of international relations, foreign policy, or areas outside the United States and Canada.
  • Admissible Criteria: Applicants must be graduating Reed seniors or alumni within two years of the application deadline, entering a graduate program within the year after the application deadline. The year of study must be internationally oriented within the specified disciplines.

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: In order to apply for this funding programme, students must take admission in Graduate programs at the university. After being enrolled, they will complete an online application form for this scholarship.
  • Supporting Documents: The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
  • Resume (not exceeding two letter size pages)
  • Reed Transcript (official or unofficial)
  • Academic Statement (no more than 350 words)
  • Personal Statement (no more than 750 words)
  • Program List (up to three programs with degree level, program/course name, institution, and URL)
  • Admission Requirements: Applicants are not required to have already been accepted into their chosen degree program but must demonstrate eligibility and strong candidacy.
  • Language Requirement: The students must submit scores of the following English language proficiency tests:
  • SAT: 600+ for the evidence-based reading/writing score
  • ACT: Reading and English scores of 28+
  • TOEFL: 110+
  • IELTS: 7+
  • Duolingo: 145+
  • Reed College’s test codes are 4654 (TOEFL) and 4654 (Reed College PROFILE).

Benefits

The fellowship provides $50,000 in funding for one year of full-time international study at a recognized academic institution. Any remaining funds beyond course or program fees are considered a stipend for the fellow. Fellows are responsible for taxes and can receive funds in two payments or as a lump sum. No further funding is available from this fellowship.
