Scholarship Announced To Increase Latino Participation In Aspen Institute Programs

Aspen Institute Latinos and Society Program in partnership with Ricardo Salinas, founder & president of Mexico-based Group, Salinas and a trustee member of Aspen Institute Board, recently announced to offer a scholarship program with an aim to boost the Latino and Latin American participation in the programs offered by Aspen Institute. Latinos and Society Program is the latest initiative by the institute which is focused in boosting the awareness of growing Latino Community and its critical significance to future success of the nation.

Named after Ricardo Salinas, this scholarship program is launched to increase the participation of Latino and Latin Americans in the programs of Aspen Institute.

In a speech, Salinas commented that, the association with Aspen Institute has inspired and encouraged the group to think about the serious issues encountered by the society today in new ways.

The group is taking the pride to become a part of the institute’s efforts to ensure more Latinos and Latin American participation and contribution in the programs of the institute. The group can be benefited from these crucial discussions and leadership initiatives.

The Scholarship Selection Committee from Ricardo Salinas Group meets twice a year so as to decide where the funds should be utilized effectively and eligible candidates for the scholarship program. Applicants who demonstrate genuine financial need and contribution to increase Latin and Latinos participation will be highly preferred for the scholarship programs.

President and CEO of Aspen Institute, Walter Isaacson stated that, “We are grateful for this opportunity to improve our programming by augmenting Latino and Latin American participation.” Emphasizing on Ricardo’s contribution, Walter said that, this partnership will not only broaden the horizons of scholarship recipients, but will also improve the experience of all participants and programs at Aspen Institute.

There are a wide variety of opportunities open to this scholarship program, where one program invites the high school pass outs to write graphic novels. There will be a writer’s workshop conducted with teaching artists which will help around twenty eligible students throughout the process of writing graphic novels.

Aspen’s Seminar on Leadership, Values and the Good Society is the prime initiative by the institute and it is reckoned as the anchor of institute’s global leadership fellowship program.

A Socrates Program is also available that will provide a forum for students and people from different professions to come together in one platform and discuss the issues of the society through an expert-moderated forum. This program focuses on promoting leaders of 28-45 ages.
