Development Scholarships for Tongans in Czech Republic
The Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University through the support of the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport offers seven development scholarships for Tongan students. Applications for these scholarships are open to all students from developing countries and/or countries going through a process of political and economic transition, who are applying for study in one of Bachelor’s studies or Master’s studies programmes at Charles University Faculty of Social Sciences from academic year 2015/2016. The deadline for scholarship applications is 30th April 2017.

FIG Foundation PhD Scholarships
FIG Foundation is offering PhD scholarships for applicants from low-income, lower-middle or upper-middle income economy. The FIG Foundation will be providing scholarships of up to 4,000 euros to PhD students. Applicant must be studying for a PhD degree and registered solely in a surveying/geomatics academic programme that teaches surveying are eligible to apply. The application deadline is February 1, 2017.

MS International Federation McDonald Fellowships for Tongans
MS International Federation is awarding a number of McDonald Fellowships for Tongan students. Fellowships enable the recipient to travel to an established research institution to work with leading researchers in MS with a view to returning to their own country to establish a programme of MS research. The fellowship consists of a two-year grant, around UK £30,000 per year, to cover travel and living costs, and an additional contribution of UK £2,000 per year to the host institution. The deadline for nominations is 30 June 2017.

International Masters Scholarships for MSc in Science Communication and Public Engagement
The School of Biomedical Sciences will offer a number of Master’s scholarships for Tongan students. Each will have a value of £5,000 and will be tenable for one academic year. Students must be liable for the overseas fee rate and have been accepted for admission on a full-time basis for the Master’s programme in Science Communication and Public Engagement. year. The application deadline is 30 May.

Jay Jordan IFLA/OCLC Early Career Development Fellowship for Tongans
This early career development fellowship program provides early career development and continuing education for library and information science professionals from countries with developing economies. Up to five individuals are selected each year for participation in this intensive four-week Fellowship Program based at OCLC’s headquarters in Dublin, Ohio, USA. Fellows visit selected libraries and cultural heritage institutions, meet with leading information professionals and observe OCLC’s governance structure in action. The application deadline is February 12.

Franklin Mosher Baldwin Memorial Fellowships
The Leakey Foundation is inviting applications for Franklin Mosher Baldwin Memorial Fellowships. These fellowships are intended for scholars and students of a developing country who wish to obtain an advanced degree from an institution outside the student’s home country. It is limited to two years of support. The maximum award is limited to $15,000 per year. The application deadline is February 15.

TWAS Research Grants Programme in Basic Sciences (Consortia) for Developing Countries
Applications are invited for TWAS research grants available for Tongan students for a period of 18 months. Grants are awarded to high-level promising research projects in biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics carried out by research consortia in the 81 S&T-lagging countries identified by TWAS. Applications from women scientists and those working in Least Developed Countries are especially encouraged. Research Grants to research consortia amount to a maximum of USD20,000. The deadline for receiving applications is 1 June.

3ie Scholarship for Tongans at University of East Anglia in UK
University of East Anglia is inviting applications for 3ie scholarship. One 3ie scholarship is available for applicants from less developed countries who apply for a place on the Msc Impact Evaluation for International Development. The Scholarship covers £10,000 of the course tuition fee and one return economy flight. The scholarship is provided to study Msc Impact Evaluation for International Development. All applicants are expected to have met the School’s English language requirements and been offered and accepted a place on the course by this date. The application deadline is 30 May.

Japan Foundation for UNU PhD Scholarships for Tongans
Applications are invited for UNU scholarships available for applicants from developing countries to undertake PhD program in Sustainability Science. A limited number of PhD scholarships (covering tuition fees and living costs) for a maximum of 36 months are awarded for outstanding applicants who can demonstrate a need for financial assistance. Applicants must have completed Master’s degree in disciplines related to sustainability studies and have a minimum of 2 years of practical field experience related to UNU-IAS research themes. The application deadline is 30 April.

Wellcome Trust Masters Fellowships in Public Health and Tropical Medicine
Wellcome Trust is inviting applications for masters fellowships for Tongan students to undertake research training at Master’s degree level. Master’s degrees by distance learning can be supported. Fellows must be based in a low- or middle-income country for their research project. A Fellowship normally provides up to 30 months’ support. A period of 12 months should normally be dedicated to undertaking a taught Master’s course at a recognized centre of excellence, combined with up to 18 months to undertake a research project. The last date to apply is 7 December.

Japan Foundation for UNU (JFUNU) Scholarship for Tongans
United Nations University is offering sustainability scholarship for outstanding applicants from developing countries to undertake MSc programme. The JFUNU scholarship provides a monthly allowance of 150,000 JPY for living expenses for a maximum of 24 months. The tuition fees are fully waived for the scholarship recipients. During admission selection process, outstanding applicants with financial need will be automatically considered as candidates for the award of the JFUNU scholarship. Thus, no separate application is necessary. The application deadline is 27 February.

Jefferson Fellowships for Journalists in USA and Asia Pacific Region
Applications are invited for Jefferson fellowships available to working print, broadcast and online journalists from the United States, Asia and the Pacific Islands. The funds provide for 10-13 full or partial fellowships, including approximately 4-5 for qualified American journalists and 7-8 for Asia Pacific journalists. Fellowships are awarded for an intensive one-week education and dialogue seminar at the East-West Center in Honolulu followed by two weeks of study tour travel in the Asia Pacific-U.S. region. The application deadline is January 27.

International Students House Residential Scholarships for Tongans
Applications are invited for residential scholarships in London for the September 2014 intake. Scholarship provides free accommodation at ISH for up to a year and in exceptional circumstances up to three years. Commonwealth Professional Fellowships for Tongans
Commonwealth Professional Fellowships provide an opportunity for mid-career professionals from Tonga. The duration of the fellowships between one and three months, which may be extended up to a maximum of six months. Application will close on 14 April.

Short Term Training Awards for Tongans
Short Term Training Awards are available to Tongan individuals who will undertake training of up to one year in duration in New Zealand. Short Term Training Awards cover payment of fees, return economy air fares, an establishment grant, and a basic living allowance. STTA applications can be made at any time of the year.
