School of Law Strategic PhD Top Up Grant in Australia, 2017

The University of Wollongong’s School of Law is offering PhD Top-Up Grant of $10,000pa for up to three years. The grant is awarded to both domestic and international prospective students in the priority area of criminal law and criminal justice especially in the areas of alcohol and drug-related offending and the regulation of public spaces.

The Strategic PhD Top-Up Grant will be awarded to a high-quality PhD applicant in conjunction with a successful application for a full PhD scholarship such as an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA), University Postgraduate Award (UPA) or International Postgraduate Tuition Award (IPTA).

The University of Wollongong’s School of Law offers a rich research environment, contributing expertise to national debates and delivering research outcomes that are rated as above world standard by the Australian Research Council.

Course Level: Grant is available for pursuing PhD programme.

Study Subject: Grant in the priority area of criminal law and criminal justice especially in the areas of alcohol and drug-related offending and the regulation of public spaces.

Scholarship Award: The scholarship is for three and a half (3.5) years full-time with a stipend of $AUD 26,682 per annum (tax-free and indexed annually). The Strategic PhD Top-Up Grant is up to $10,000pa for three years.

Scholarship can be taken in Australia

Eligibility: PhD scholarship applicants should have:

  • First-class honours, Masters degree by research or a Masters degree by coursework with a significant research component
  • Additional relevant research experience and/or peer-reviewed research activity, awards and/or prizes will be regarded favourably

Nationality: Both domestic and international prospective students are encouraged to apply.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: Applicants must have a masters degree.

Test Requirement: No

English Language Requirement: All international applicants for whom English is not the native tongue must provide proof of competence in the English language.

How to Apply: Applicants should submit:

  • A cover letter detailing relevant experience, your CV and academic transcripts to the Faculty Research Unit via lha-research-at-uow.edu.au.
  • A Higher Degree Research (HDR) admission and scholarship application. Include your academic transcript, copy of your passport or birth certificate and an outline of your proposed research project.
