Ser Cymru-Funded PhD Studentship in Computer Science and Informatics, 2014

Cardiff University is inviting applications for a PhD studentship in the area of Quantum Technologies on modelling, controlling and characterising quantum networks of spins. This studentship is open to students of any nationality. This studentship consists of full UK/EU tuition fees, as well as a Doctoral Stipend matching UK Research Council National Minimum. Candidates must also have a strong background in either engineering simulation, computational modelling or quantum physics; have excellent mathematical skills; and have excellent programing skills. The application deadline is 14 August 2014.

Eligibility:
-Residency: This studentship is open to students of any nationality. Students classified as international for fee purposes have to self-fund the difference between home and international fees.
-Academic criteria: Candidates should:
– either have a good honours degree in a relevant discipline (minimum 2:1);
– or have a Masters qualification with distinction in the research dissertation in a relevant discipline;
– or have professional qualifications deemed by Cardiff University to be equivalent to the above;
– or be over 25 and have relevant work experience in a position of responsibility.
Candidates must also have a strong background in either engineering simulation, computational modelling or quantum physics; have excellent mathematical skills; and have excellent programing skills.
-Additional Criteria: If your first language is not English you must provide evidence of competence in English. Our minimum requirement is an overall IELTS result of at least 6.5, with a minimum of 6.5 in writing, and a minimum of 6.0 in speaking, listening and reading.
