Scholarship Description: The Scholarship is targeted at overseas students, preferably from less developed countries, who are academically exceptional and would otherwise be unable to study at one of Britain’s leading universities. The Scholarship will support a post-graduate student undertaking research leading to a PhD. It is intended that the successful candidate will join the Department from the beginning of the 2012/13 session (September 2012). The duration of the Scholarship will in the first instance be three years and is subject to an annual review of progress. There is the possibility of an extension of the period of funding for a further six months. The Scholarship will provide tuition fees, plus a student stipend of £15,590. Additional financial support is available for fieldwork expenses, equipment, data and other research expenses.
