Middle East Technical University

Founded in 1956, this university is located in Ankara, and is devoted to provide technical knowledge in various fields. Several departments in the Engineering have been evaluated, at METU’s request, by the “Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)” and their programs were given approval by this Board.

Programmes: There are currently 40 UG programs, 5 Graduate Schools with 93 masters and 61 doctorate programs and a “School of Foreign Languages” which includes the English Preparatory Department. 12 undergraduate programs (including 1 international program) are offered in connection with METU Northern Cyprus Campus. University offers Bachelor’s and master’s degree in Architecture, Arts & Science, Economic & Administrative and many more.

Anadolu University 

The university was founded in 1982, and is known for promoting universal higher education values in the Turkish higher education with its 16 faculties (3 of which offer distance education), 4 applied schools, 4 vocational schools, 9 graduate schools, 25 research centers, and 15 research, development and application units. The entire university is well designed to give students a sense of freedom. Moreover, there are grants including housing and food grants to students that achieve a certain level of success, but are financially disadvantaged.

Programmes: The University offers Certificate, Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree, Master Degrees and Doctorate Degrees in Museum Studies, Information Science, Germanic Studies, and Electrical.

Istanbul University 

This public university was established in 1933, and has 17 faculties and has Graduate and Post Graduate department.  These include Medicine, Business Administration, Communication, Health Science, Fisheries and many more. There are various institutes that come under this university and each has set the guidelines for the same.

Programmes: Istanbul University provides various degree programmes in various levels like Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree and PhD.

Bogazici University 

This University has four faculties offering UG and graduate degree. The university attracts highest scoring students seeking admission in applied science, education, engineering and social science. It is the only university ranking among 200 worldwide by Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2013-14.

Gazi University 

Established in 1926, it is a public university in Ankara. There are 21 faculties, 4 schools, 11 vocational schools of higher education, 48 research centers and 7 graduate institutes. There are approx 77,000 students every year that takes admission in different courses.

Programmes: The University has various faculties like- Arts, Architecture, Communication, Dentistry, Engineering, Law, Medicine, Technology and many more. The graduate schools offer Fine Arts, Health Science, Information, Sciences and Social Science.

KOC University 

Founded in 1993, it is a non-profit private university in Istanbul. Presently, it is the leading university in the country. The university’s faculty consists of Turkey’s most established senior researchers and PhD’s from elite research institutions. Most of these researchers hold doctoral degrees. Currently, this university ranks 4th in Turkey according to Times Higher Education World University Rankings. There are currently 22 UG, 31 Graduate and 16 PhD programs.

Istanbul Technical University 

Commonly known as ITU, it ranks 7th by The Brics and Emerging Economies Ranking. The university has 39 undergraduate, 144 graduate programs, 13 colleges, 346 labs and 12 research centers.

Programmes: The University has different faculty like Civil Engineering, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, College of Mines, Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering and Management.

Bilkent University 

Located in Ankara, it is the first private university of Turkey.  It ranks 3rd according to the Times Higher Education World University Ranking.  The university has different division’s like- Applied Schools, Vocational Schools, Programs, Graduate Programs and Summer School.

Programmes:  The UG programmes offered are in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Law, Science, Applied Language, Tourism and Hotel Service. Under Graduate Programmes- Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Law, History and Arts.

Ankara University 

This was the first university in Turkey to be founded for higher education in Turkish Republic. There are 40 vocational programs, 114 UG programs and 110 graduate programs. There are total 41 research application centers in the university which includes Entrepreneurship, distance education and few others.

Faculties: The University has various faculties like- Medicine, Dental Medicine, Pharmacy, Health Education, Political Science, Engineering and Agriculture. There are total 13 institutes that come under this university. 

Ege University 

This is the public university and was founded in 1955 with just two faculties’ medicine and Agriculture. It ranks among top 10 universities and is the reputed university in Turkey. Currently, the university consists of 12 faculties, 7 junior college-type schools (with 4 years of curriculum), 7 vocational training schools (with 2 years of curriculum), 8 institutes and 26 research centers.
