The University of Newcastle, informally known as Newcastle University, an Australian public university established in 1965, has its primary campus in Callaghan, a suburb of Newcastle, New South Wales.

Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.

Course Level: award is available for pursuing a Ph.D. program. 

Award: This scholarship provides a living allowance of $27,596 per annum (2019 rate) indexed annually. The living allowance scholarship is for 3.5 years and the tuition fee scholarship is for four years.

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for scholarship:

  • Masters Degree (Statistics, Biostatistics or related field) or Honours (Statistics) with GPA 6 or higher (equivalent to a Distinction average)
  • Statistical modeling skills
  • Statistical computing skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (in English)
  • Capacity to work well with and contribute to a team
  • Also, meet the other eligibility requirements of the university
