The University of Kent is now accepting applications for the Christine and Ian Bolt Scholarships. The award is open for the academic session 2024/2025.

To be considered for the Christine and Ian Bolt Scholarship, applicants must meet certain eligibility criteria.   • Acceptable Course or Subjects: Any subject offered by the University of Kent
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible for this prestigious scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Hold an excellent bachelor’s (1st or 2.1), or Master’s degree (merit or distinction)
  • Hold an offer of a place, or be a currently registered student, for a full-time or part-time postgraduate research or taught degree at the University of Kent for the following academic year within one of the listed Academic Divisions: Arts and Humanities; Human and Social Sciences; Kent Business School; or Law, Society and Social Justice
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Express passion for their project and its wider value convincingly
  • Act as ‘ambassador’ for both the University and their subject.

How to Apply

The application process involves submitting the following documents via the application portal before the deadline of Wednesday 12 June 2024, 23:59 BST:

  • Research proposal of approximately 2000 words
  • CV
  • Covering letter stating the reasons for wishing to receive the scholarship, including the names of two referees
  • Proposed budget showing use of the scholarship funds
  • Academic references from two referees, written in English on official headed paper, that include your suitability to receive the scholarship on both academic and general grounds, the full name and status/title of the referee, the name, address, and telephone number of the referee’s institution or place of work, the details of the referee’s relationship to the applicant, and the full name of the applicant.
