The program is open to Chinese candidates seeking to pursue a doctoral degree at the University of Notre Dame. The program offers funding opportunities for degree-seeking master’s students, degree-seeking doctoral students, and joint training doctoral students. A total of 40 scholarships are available annually.

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the given criteria:
  • For Doctoral Degree: Age not more than 35 years old, outstanding master’s students, fresh master’s graduates, and fresh undergraduate graduates with strong research capabilities.
  • For Master’s Degree: Age not more than 45 years old, outstanding fresh undergraduate graduates or working professionals with a bachelor’s degree.
  • For Joint Training of Doctoral Students: Outstanding full-time doctoral students from domestic universities or research institutions.

  • How to Apply: Applicants need to complete the online application on the China Scholarship Council platform. The application materials should be prepared and submitted following the requirements specified by the China Scholarship Council.

Benefits

The scholarship program covers living expenses, health insurance, round-trip travel, and visa fees. Tuition is provided by the University of Notre Dame for doctoral and master’s students. Additional funding through assistantships may be available. Exceptional doctoral students receive support for the fifth year based on performance. Scholarship materials and admission notices are issued by both the China Scholarship Council and the University of Notre Dame by March 2024.
