Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: Developing countries
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for the master’s degree in the following:
  • GIBS Business School
  • Faculty of Law
  • Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment, and IT
  • Faculty of Economic and Management Science
  • Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible for this scholarship, prospective applicants must:
  • Full-time master’s students
  • From a developing country
  • Pursuing studies in any field related to sustainable energy development (renewable energy, advanced electricity technologies, public policy…)
  • Pursue full-time studies for at least one full school year (two or three semesters) as of mid to late 2023
  • Be a citizen of a developing country on the list of official development aid recipients identified by the Development Assistance Committee of the OECD
  • Be committed to contributing to their home country’s development after their studies
  • Be an outstanding student: Excellent grades in the top 20% of their class, Committed to zero-carbon energy development, History of community involvement, and Determined to advance their knowledge and understanding
  • Undertake master’s-level studies in a field related to sustainable energy development

  • Supporting Documents: Beginning an application, ensure they have all of the required documents:
  • CV/résumé
  • Scan of your passport or birth certificate
  • Letter of admission to the master’s program of your choice
  • Course outline of the master’s program
  • Most recent university transcript
  • Two references: Applicants must complete the Academic Reference Form.
  • Note: All documents must be in English. If the original language of the document is not English, you must provide both the original document and a certified translation.
  • Admission Requirements: Applicants must meet all the entry requirements to study at the University of Pretoria, SA
  • Language Requirement: All international applicants whose first language is not English, will have to write and pass the TOEFL or IELTS test.

Benefits

The University of Pretoria will provide up to $10,000 per year for at most two years. There are approximately 12 students selected annually.
