The University of Tokyo is offering Summer Internship Program (UTSIP) for 2018 academic year. UTSIP provides a hands-on research internship program in the fields of Information Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Studies, International Studies, Materials Sciences, Sustainability Sciences, and among others.  The internship application deadline is January 4, 2018.

Eligibility:

  • Participants are required to participate in all activities including classes, laboratory work, and special events organized by UTSIP.
  • Participant will be exempted from attending Japanese language class if his/her Japanese language proficiency is a native language level.

Internship Open for International Students: International students are eligible to apply for these internships.

Is this paid internship? Yes, UTSIP provides a UTSIP scholarship to participants that includes
-Scholarship for living expenses (JPY 110,000)
-Partial subsidy for applicant’s air flight (up to JPY 50,000)

Internship Description: UTSIP Kashiwa provides hands-on research internship opportunities in the fields of natural sciences and social sciences offers lectures from the world-leading researchers at GSFS is a seven-week summer program for academically motivated undergraduate students provides a scholarship and accommodations. All participants will be assigned to a laboratory in which he/she is interested to work and will conduct a research project under the guidance of a faculty member or senior graduate students. Participants will also experience Japanese culture and world-leading Japanese technology through weekend events and a field trip.

Number of awards offered: Approximately 30 students in total, 15 for each program.

Internship Duration: 2018 UTSIP will offer two different program schedules. UTSIP students can join either program A or B.

Program A           early June to mid-July 2018

Program B           late June to early August 2018

Notification:  University will inform all applicants of the result by e-mail in February.

How to Apply: Apply via e-mail and attach the three (3) application documents.

Your e-mail should include your preference of Program period and laboratory.

? Curriculum vitae (in English)

No format restrictions (paper size A4, within 1-2 pages).
If you have participated in a research project related to the project you would like to conduct in UTSIP, please include this.

? Copy of your transcript (in Japanese)

The transcript should cover all the courses of your undergraduate level study up to the most recently completed academic period of study and must be written in Japanese.

Internship Application Deadline: The internship application deadline is January 4, 2018.
