Victoria University is offering four ASEAN scholarships for PhD students from Brunei and Singapore (two awards are made to Brunei and two to Singapore). Successful applicants should have an outstanding academic track record in a relevant discipline. The sponsorship will be held for up to three years. Applicants are requested to clearly indicate their area of research interest and to include a brief summary of their suggested research and methodology with their application. The application deadline is 1 July 2015.

Eligibility:
-Successful applicants should have an outstanding academic track record in a relevant discipline. The applicant will be expected to have completed a Bachelor’s or Masters degree with academic distinction equivalent to a First Class Honours degree at a New Zealand University. Applicants are requested to clearly indicate their area of research interest and to include a brief summary of their suggested research and methodology with their application.
-Students whose first language is not English are required to meet the English language proficiency requirements for postgraduate study at Victoria University. Victoria’s English language requirements are strict and not negotiable. If your first language is not English, you must provide evidence of your English proficiency before you will be accepted as a PhD candidate. Requirements are: TOEFL 575 with (preferably) a TWE of 5, or 237 on the computer-based test; or 90 on the internet-based test with a minimum of 20 in writing; or IELTS overall band of 6.5, no sub-score below 6; or CAE grade B; or a minimum of two ratings of 5 and two ratings of 4 in the Victoria University English Proficiency Programme test.

What does it cover? Scholarships include $23,500 stipend annually plus tuition fees for three years.

-These financial aid positions will be targeted at younger researchers who have the capacity to contribute to the development of their countries and the ASEAN region.
-Priority will be given to topics that relate to regional integration and sustainable development.
