Wincott Foundation Journalism Scholarship for International Students in UK, 2017

The Wincott Foundation is offering one-year full fee scholarship for a postgraduate master’s student at Cardiff University. The scholarship is open to all students of any nationality without restrictions (UK/EU and International) at the School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies.

The Scholarship is to support excellence in financial and business journalism and is available to any student with a place accepted on one of Cardiff’s practise-based vocational master courses.

Cardiff University is a public research university located in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom. Founded in 1883 as the University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire, it became one of the founding colleges of the University of Wales in 1893, and in 1997 received (but held in abeyance) its own degree-awarding powers.

All overseas applicants whose first language is not English must have a standard of written and spoken English that will enable them to benefit fully from their course of study. The majority of our courses request an IELTS score of 6.5 or 7.0.

Course Level: Scholarship is available for pursuing postgraduate taught programme.

Study Subject: Scholarship is awarded in the field of Journalism.

Scholarship Award:

Tuition fee support: Full UK/EU tuition fees (if applicable, any eligible non-home fee paying candidate must fund the remainder of the overseas fee themselves)

Maintenance stipend: No stipend

Scholarship can be taken in the UK

Eligibility:

Residency: Open to all students of any nationality without restrictions (UK/EU and International)

Academic criteria: Applicants will normally be expected to hold a UK higher education degree of lower second class Honours or above, or a qualification recognised by the University as equivalent. This requirement may be waived for students with appropriate alternative qualifications.

Nationality: Students of all nationalities are eligible to apply.

Journalism Scholarships

How to Apply: Applicants will be automatically considered for the scholarship. Before students apply they will need to provide

  • Exam results (copies of original certificates or transcripts and English translations, if necessary, to prove you have the qualifications listed on your application form)
  • Two references (usually at least one from a recent lecturer or professor) – download and fill out our Referee report form
  • Personal statement
  • Research proposal (for research students who are not applying for listed projects)
  • English Language certificates (for applicants whose first language is not English)
