Ministry of Education of P.R. China is pleased to offer scholarships for international students in 2016-2017 academic session. Scholarships will be awarded to undertake doctoral, masters, undergraduate, general scholar program and senior scholar program .
In order to promote the mutual understanding, cooperation and exchanges in various fields between China and other countries, the Chinese government has set up a series of scholarship programs to sponsor international students, teachers and scholars to study and conduct research in Chinese universities.
The China Scholarship Council (CSC) is a non-profit institution with legal person status affiliated with the Ministry of Education. The objective of the CSC is to provide, in accordance with the law, statutes and relevant principles and policies of China, financial assistance to the Chinese citizens wishing to study abroad and to the foreign citizens wishing to study in China in order to develop the educational, scientific and technological, and cultural exchanges and economic and trade cooperation between China and other countries
Chinese government has set up a series of scholarship programs to sponsor international students, teachers and scholars to study and conduct research in Chinese universities. They should meet the language requirements of the higher education institutions. General English language requirements for English-instructed programs and Chinese-instructed programs are different.
Course Level: Scholarships are available for students, teachers and scholars to pursue degrees at all levels (bachelor’s, master’s and PhD) or non-degree studies and to conduct research in China.
Study Subject(s): 279 designated Chinese universities offer a wide variety of academic programs in Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine, Law, Economics, Management, Education, Liberal Arts, Philosophy, History, and Fine Arts for scholarship winners at all levels.
Scholarship Award: Full Scholarship covers:
-Tuition waiver; Tuition funds will be comprehensively used by the host university. It may cover scholarship students’ education, administration costs and expenditures to support student activities.
–Accommodation: free university dormitory or accommodation subsidy;
-If the host university requires students to live on campus, the university will accommodate scholarship students in university dormitory (usually twin room); if the host university permits students to live off campus, the university will provide monthly/quarterly accommodation subsidy:
-undergraduate students/master’s students/general scholars: CNY 700 per month;
-doctoral students/senior scholars: CNY 1000 per month.
-undergraduate students: CNY 2,500 per month;
-master’s students / general scholars: CNY 3,000 per month;
-doctoral students / senior scholars: CNY 3,500 per month.
-Within the scholarship duration, registered scholarship students will receive stipend from their host university month by month.
-Students registering before the 15th of the month (the 15th included) will receive full stipend of that month. Those who register after the 15th of the month will receive half stipend of that month.
-If registered student stays out of China for more than 15 days (school holidays excluded), his stipend will be stopped during his leaving.
Partial Scholarship covers: One or some items of the full scholarship.

English Language Requirements: General Chinese Language requirements for application to Chinese-instructed program
-Old HSK6 (or new HSK5)or above is required for application of liberal arts, economics and management majored students.
-Old HSK3 (or new HSK4) or above is required for application of science, engineering and medical science majored students.

General English language requirements for application to English-instructed programs:
-Free English Language testing for students from English speaking countries.
-Free English Language testing for students from countries in which English is the major teaching language on condition that the relevant proof documents were provided.
-TOEFL 550, IELTS 5.5 or Pass university’s entrance examination.

Supporting Material: Generally, applicants must fill in and provide the following documents truly, correctly and completely (in duplicate).
-Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (in Chinese or English)
-Notarized highest diploma
-A study plan or research proposal
-Applicants for music studies are requested to submit a CD of the applicants’ own works. Applicants for the fine arts programs must submit a CD of the applicants’ own works (including two sketches, two color paintings and two other works)
-Applicants under the age of 18 should submit the valid documents of their legal guardians in China.
-Applicants planning to stay in China for more than 6 months must submit a photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form ( valid for 6 months).
-Applicants with the Pre-admission Letter/Admission Letter from designated universities should enclose the letter in the application package.
-Applicants with valid HSK Certificate should enclose the photocopy of it in the application package.
The above documents should be bound on top left corner (in duplicate) in order. No application documents will be returned.
How to Apply:
-Please select the program Chinese Government Scholarships.
-The item apply for refers to the program applicant want to study rather than the degree they have already held.
-Majors should be one of the existing majors offered by Chinese universities and be based on applicant actual educational background. A nonexistent or improper major input will affect applicants application result.
-Preference of Institutions must be chosen from 279 Chinese universities designated by MOE. Any institution beyond the list will not be available for recruitment.
-Duration of the Major Study should match the program applicants apply for. Please check introductions to each program for the specific schooling period.
-Submitted applications can be retrieved for revision. Once retrieved, the previously submitted application becomes invalid. Therefore, revised application should be submitted one more time.
