Applications are invited for the J. N. Tata Endowment Loan Scholarships for 2016 academic year. These Tata scholarships are awarded to Indian students for postgraduate studies abroad in all disciplines.
The JN Tata Endowment for the Higher Education of Indians has been helping Indian students since 1892 with loan scholarships for higher studies. People consider it a matter of great pride to be called a ‘JN Tata Scholar’. There are now more than 4,800 JN Tata Scholars all over the world.
It was set up in 1892 by Jamsetji Tata, Founder of the Tata group, to encourage young people to take up higher studies at some of the best universities in the world. It is the first Tata benefaction in the field of education, and possibly the first of its kind in the world.
A good GRE/GMAT/TOEFL/IELTS score is extremely important for those applying overseas. If students have received a low GRE score, it may be advisable to improve upon it, to increase your chances of receiving the loan scholarship.
Course Level: Scholarships are awarded to pursue higher studies abroad irrespective of the selected course or training programme, or a full-fledged Master’s, Doctoral or Postdoctoral programme.
Study Subject(s): Scholarships are available for pursuing higher education in all areas and fields of study, with newly emerging fields of relevance to the country.
Scholarship Award: The loan amount (ranging between Rs.1,50,000/- and Rs.6,00,000/-) awarded to each scholar is determined by the norms laid down for the purpose and does not cover the full cost of studies. All applicants do not necessarily qualify for the maximum amount. Selected scholars may also qualify for a gift scholarship from the Jamsetji Tata Trust and a Travel Grant from the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, based on the sole discretion of the Trustees of the concerned Trusts. A gift scholarship can amount to a maximum of Rs.10,00,000/-

Eligibility: The eligibility criteria for this scholarship are:
-Only Indian nationals are eligible for the scholarship.
-Graduates from a recognized Indian University, with a consistently good academic record.
-Students in the final year of a degree course and those awaiting final-year results.
-Academicians and other mid-career professionals, up to the age of 45 years, with experience in their fields, who wish to go abroad for further specialised training.
Nationality: Students of India can apply for these Tata scholarships.

Supporting Material: The application form must be accompanied by a soft copy of a statement of purpose (not more than 800 words) and a scanned copy of a recommendation letter specifically addressed to the Trustees of the J. N. Tata Endowment on the respective letterhead with full address, telephone and mobile numbers or from the official email address of:
-a Professor of the College or University or
-the Employer, in case the applicant is / was working.

Scholarship Application Deadline: There is no specific date for submission but all completed application forms should be submitted at least 45 days before the candidate departs overseas. For instance : if candidate scheduled to leave on 15th September then application should be submitted by 31st July.
