Applications are invited for Erasmus Mundus European Master in Tourism Management (EMTM) Scholarship programme. This is a two-year joint master program tailor-made by 3 European universities situated in Denmark, Slovenia, and Spain.

The main aim of EMTM is to prepare future professionals who will embrace responsibility in tourism institutions making sustainable and effective decisions. EMTM provides students with an integrated knowledge of the dynamics of tourism development, sustainable management, the role of cultural diversity, innovation and governance in tourism and trains future researchers in the ?eld of tourism management.

Students are exempt from documenting their English skills if their first degree (bachelor/undergraduate degree) was taken in the USA, Canada (English speaking part), Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom or Ireland. Please note that if your degree was only partly taught in one of the above countries, you are not exempted from documenting your English skills but must do so as indicated on this page. It is not sufficient to enclose a letter from your home university. Not even if the language of instruction at your home university is English.

­ Scholarship Description: 

  • Applications deadline: EMJMD Partner Country scholarships: January 31, 2018, and EMJMD Programme Country scholarships: April 30, 2018.
  • Course Level: Scholarship is available to pursue Master degree programme.
  • Study Subject: The European Master in Tourism Management (EMTM) is a two-year world-class integrated programme aimed at qualifying graduates to deal with the huge challenges in contemporary tourism. The EMTM has been selected as Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) by the European Commission.
  • Scholarship Award: The scholarship includes the students’ participation costs (including tuition fees, full insurance coverage and any other mandatory costs related to the students’ participation in the course), a contribution to student travel and installation cost and a subsistence allowance for the entire duration of the EMJMD study programme. Details on the scholarship amounts are given in the table below:
 

Contribution to the participation costs

 

Tuition fees, full insurance coverage and other costs related to the students’ participation in the course up to 14,000 € for Partner Country scholarship holders and up to 7,500 € for Programme Country scholarship holders, which are paid by the European Commission to the EMTM coordinating institution.

 

 

 

Contribution to the travel and installation costs

 

1,000 € per year for travel costs for scholarship holders residents of a Programme Country.

 

2,000 € per year for travel costs + 1,000 € for installation costs for scholarship holders residents of a Partner Country whose location is situated at less than 4,000 km from the EMJMD coordinating HEI.

 

3,000 € per year for travel costs + 1,000 € for installation costs for scholarship holders residents of a Partner Country whose location is situated at 4,000 km or more from the EMJMD coordinating HEI.

 

 

Contribution to subsistence costs

1,000 € per month for the entire duration of the EMJMD study programme (24 months maximum). Contribution to subsistence costs will not be given to the scholarship holders for the EMJMD (study /research /placement/thesis preparation) periods spent in their country of residence.

 

Nationality: EU and Non-EU students.

Number of Scholarships: The maximum number of EMJMD Partner Country scholarships available for course 2018-2020 will be 14 scholarships.

The maximum number of EMJMD Programme Country scholarships available for course 2018-2020 will be 2 scholarships.

Scholarship can be taken in Denmark, Slovenia, and Spain

Eligibility for the Scholarship: 

Eligible Countries: EMJMD Partner Country scholarships are awarded to applicants selected by the EMTM consortium who are nationals of a Partner Country (all countries outside the 28 EU Member States, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Turkey) and who are not residents nor have carried out their main activity (studies, training or work) for more than 12 non-consecutive months over the last 5 years in one of the 28 EU Member States, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Turkey.

Entrance Requirements: The main selection criteria for EMTM applicants are:

  • Completed university bachelors or master’s degree/s (=180 ECTS credit points or more) in the field of tourism, economics, business administration, geography or other related fields in the social sciences or humanities.
  • Excellence in obtaining the university degree/s (the average grades must be A or B, minimum 70%).
  • English language proficiency proved by official TOEFL (institutional tests are not accepted) with at least 230 points (computer-based test) / 575 points (paper-based test) / 88 points (internet-based test), IELTS Academic at grade minimum 6.5 or Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) with minimum level C.Exemption:
