The University of Auckland is offering PhD engineering scholarship to support for Vietnamese. The intention of the Scholarship is to encourage and support academically excellent students to undertake a full-time doctoral study on an agreed topic in the Faculty of Engineering.
The Scholarship’s continuation for a second and subsequent year will be subject to the Scholarship recipient maintaining satisfactory academic progress. The basis of selection will be academic achievement, financial need and suitability of the proposed study in New Zealand.

( votes)The Van-Thanh Nguyen PhD Engineering Scholarship was established in 2009 by Van-Thanh Nguyen, a former Colombo Plan student at the Faculty of Engineering. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist citizens of Vietnam, who are living in Vietnam at the time of application, to study postgraduate Engineering at the University of Auckland.

This Scholarship will be available to candidates who are: for Vietnamese; and Eligible to enrol in a PhD degree in the Faculty of Engineering. The Scholarship may be held concurrently with any other award or grant as long as a) the terms of that award or grant permit and b) the University of Auckland Council is informed and approves.
What does it cover?
- Value: Up to $16,000 pa
- A number of awards: one PhD Engineering scholarship will be offered.
- Duration of awards: Scholarship is offered for up to four years. The Scholarship’s continuation for a second and subsequent year will be subject to the Scholarship recipient maintaining satisfactory academic progress.
How to Apply:
Application by form is made to the Scholarships Office. Applicants must notify and email the Scholarships Office when they have submitted their application: scholarships-at-auckland.ac.nz.
Scholarship applications will usually open around six weeks before the closing date. Please read the regulations carefully to be sure you are eligible before you apply.
