2010 Google Anita Borg funding for Female Students from Europe, Middle East, Africa

Dr. Anita Borg (1949-2003) devoted her adult life to revolutionising the way we think about technology and dismantling barriers that keep women and minorities from entering computing and technology fields. Her combination of technical expertise and fearless vision continues to inspire and motivate countless women to become active participants and leaders in creating technology.

As part of Google’s ongoing commitment to furthering Anita’s vision, we are pleased to announce The Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship: Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Through the program, we aim to encourage women to excel in computing and technology, and become active role models and leaders.

We have always been reading about programs offered but have not been able to really be a part of one that would benefit us. My brother and I are twice (Melvin & Marvin Moore) and were born during the heat of the Liberian civil war, 1990. We are from a family of seven children. We have been struggling to obtain our education. We now attend the United Methodist University in Monrovia. We entered this year. We are finding it very difficult to coup with the tuition payment. We are paying $12.00 per credit hour. It’s not easy to concentrate on your studies while you think about how the tuition is going to be paid. Our dad got missing along with three of our brothers during the civil war. Mon is managing with the rest of us but finding it hard to keep everyone in school. We will be grateful if we can be assisted in whatever possible way. For further information you can contact us through [email protected]/[email protected] Our mother contact no is 231 6 65 65 55.
