2011-2012 Credit Counselling Services of Atlantic Canada, Inc. Scholarship

Credit Counselling Services of Atlantic Canada, Inc. (CCSAC) is holding a scholarship competition open to residents of Atlantic Canada (regardless of age) who will be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary program for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Study Subject:Finance
Employer:Credit Counselling Services of Atlantic Canada
Level:diplomas, associates degree, and bachelor’s degrees.
Scholarship Description:“Financial Literacy is an essential skill for all Canadians. Unfortunately, financial literacy education is not mandatory nor consistent across Atlantic Canada,“ outlined John Eisner, President of Credit Counselling Services of Atlantic Canada. “As an organization, we urge the governments of Atlantic Canada to take the initiative to ensure financial literacy education is delivered to youth. Ontario has already taken on this initiative and countless surveys reiterate the importance.”
“Our scholarship program challenges students to evaluate the state of personal finances in their respective province and tell us what issues they would address with their Premier and Provincial Legislature,” said Tamara Kelly, Director of Education, CCSAC. “As an agency we recognize the need of financial literacy in our youth and we use avenues such as our scholarship program and delivering presentations to classrooms to stress the importance of budgeting and financial knowledge.”
