Bank Negara Malaysia Scholarship Programme, 2017/2018

Applications are invited for Bank Negara Malaysia Scholarship Programme Nurturing Excellent Talent for the year 2017/2018. Malaysian students are eligible to apply for these scholarships.

Bank Negara Malaysia (the Central Bank of Malaysia), is a statutory body which started operations on 26 January 1959. Bank Negara Malaysia is governed by the Central Bank of Malaysia Act 2009. The role of Bank Negara Malaysia is to promote monetary and financial stability. This is aimed at providing a conducive environment for the sustainable growth of the Malaysian economy.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for Pre- University Level, Undergraduate (Honours) and Postgraduate (Master and PhD) programme.

Study Subject: Kijang Emas recipients are given the freedom to pursue their own field of study at top universities in any country of their choice.

Kijang Scholarships are awarded to eligible individuals to pursue pre-university and subsequently undergraduate studies in Economics, Accounting, Finance, Actuarial Science, Law and Computer Science at top universities per the Bank’s list of approved universities.

Undergraduate Scholarships are awarded to eligible individuals who have received offers to pursue or are currently pursuing Undergraduate studies in Economics, Accounting, Finance, Actuarial Science, Law and Computer Science at top universities per the Bank’s list of approved universities.

Postgraduate Scholarships are awarded to eligible individuals who have received offers to pursue or are currently pursuing Postgraduate studies in the following fields of study at top universities per the Bank’s list of approved universities: Economics, Econometrics, Monetary Economics, International Economics, Banking and Finance, International Finance, Quantitative Finance, Law, Banking and Finance Law, International Law, Risk Management and Islamic Finance.

Scholarship can be taken in Kijang Emas Scholarships: Top universities in any country of their choice.

Kijang Scholarships, Undergraduate Scholarships as well as Postgraduate Scholarships: Top universities per the Bank’s list of approved universities.

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for scholarship:

Kijang Emas Scholarships

  • Straight A+ in SPM 2016 examination.
  • Not exceeding 19 years of age on 1 July 2017.
  • Strong leadership qualities, high teamwork capabilities, excel in both extra-curricular activities and sports.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Kijang Scholarships

  • Minimum 8As (A and A+ only) in SPM 2016 examination.
  • Not exceeding 19 years of age on 1 July 2017.
  • Strong leadership qualities, high teamwork capabilities, excel in both extra-curricular activities and sports.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Undergraduate (Honours) Scholarship

  • STPM / A-Level – at least 2 As and 1 B; or
  • Diploma / Matriculation – Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 3.50; or
  • South Australian Matriculation – ATAR of at least 85%; or
  • American Foundation Program – SAT1 score of at least 1200; or
  • For candidates currently pursuing Undergraduate – Current CGPA of at least 3.50.
  • Passed SPM with credits in Bahasa Melayu and Bahasa Inggeris subjects
  • Not exceeding 25 years of age on 1 July 2017.
  • Obtained an offer to pursue or is currently pursuing Undergraduate studies in 2017 from top universities per the Bank’s list of approved universities.

Additional requirements include:

  • Strong leadership qualities, high teamwork capabilities, excel in both extra-curricular activities and sports
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

Postgraduate (Master and PhD) Scholarships

Candidates must fulfill the following minimum requirements:

  • Obtained a First Class (Honours) Bachelor / Master’s Degree from the top universities per the Bank’s list of approved universities.
  • Not exceeding 30 years of age for Master and 35 years of age for PhD on 1 July 2017.
  • Passed SPM with credits in Bahasa Melayu and Bahasa Inggeris subjects.
  • Obtained an offer to pursue or is currently pursuing Postgraduate studies in 2017 from top universities per the Bank’s list of approved universities.

Additional requirements include:

  • Strong leadership qualities, high teamwork capabilities, excel in both extra-curricular activities and sports.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Nationality: Malaysian students are eligible to apply for these scholarships.

College Admission Requirement

  • Entrance Requirements: For Undergraduate programme applicants must have STPM / A-Level – at least 2 As and 1 B; and for Postgraduate programme students must have obtained a First Class (Honours) Bachelor / Master’s Degree from the top universities per the Bank’s list of approved universities.

English language Requirements: Applicants must have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

How to Apply: Those who fulfilled the minimum requirements are required to apply online via Bank Negara Malaysia’s website. For postgraduate applicants, please submit one (1) page thesis summary of your proposed research
