NATO Defense College (NDC) PfP, MD and OMC/PAG Fellowships in Italy, 2020

The NATO Defense College currently offers three fellowships each year in the field of defence & security policy research & related to NATO and its partners. Two Fellowships are available for candidates from PfP countries, two for candidates from MD countries, two for candidates from NATO countries, and one for a candidate from an OMC/PAG Country.

There are up to eight scholarships are available to all eleigible candidates who wish to pursue a research degree program for the session 2020/21.  The objective is to promote scholarly research in areas of particular interest to the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC), PfP, MD, OMC/PAG as well as NATO and its member states.

The NATO Defense College aims is to conduct academic studies and research in support of the Alliance’s wider goals. A very good level of English language proficiency is required. Knowledge of French and/or Italian would also be of benefit but is not essential.

Scholarship Description:

  • Application Deadline: January 30, 2021
  • Course Level: Fellowships are available for pursuing a research programme.
  • Study Subject: Fellowships are awarded in the field of defence & security policy research & related to NATO and its partners. Candidates forfellowships are invited to submit proposals in the area of Euro-Atlantic security.
  • Scholarship Award: Each Fellow will receive the amount of sixteen thousand euros. This will cover the costs of his/her stay in Rome and his/her travel expenses.
  • Number of Scholarships: Eight fellowships each year.
  • Nationality: PfP countries, MD countries and OMC/PAG country
  • Scholarship can be taken in Italy

Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: Fellowships are available for candidates from PfP countries, MD countries and OMC/PAG country.
    List of Countries: Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Finland, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia1, Georgia, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Sweden, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine or Uzbekistan, Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Morocco, Mauritania or Tunisia, Afghanistan, Australia, Iraq, Japan, Pakistan, Republic of Korea, New Zealand and Mongolia, Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States
  • Entrance Requirements:
    • Candidates for the NDC/PfP Fellowships must be citizens of one of the following countries: Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Finland, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia1 , Georgia, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Sweden, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine or Uzbekistan.
    • Candidates for the NDC/MD Fellowships must be citizens of one of the following countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Morocco, Mauritania or Tunisia. Candidates for the NDC/OMC/PAG Fellowship must be citizens of one of the following countries: Afghanistan, Australia, Iraq, Japan, Pakistan, Republic of Korea, New Zealand, and Mongolia.
    • Candidates for the NDC/Eisenhower Fellowships must be citizens of one of the following countries: Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States are eligible to apply for these fellowships.
    • Candidates must have a good working knowledge of English or French and be computer literate.
