Students will also have a chance to compete for one of two Thriving Student Scholarships (based on level of study) for a total amount of $23,000 each, in honor of the 25th year of the scholarship program.

AbbVie is honored to continue the 25 year commitment of helping people with cystic fibrosis (CF). The AbbVie CF Scholarship program expands this tradition, offering support to CF families through financial assistance towards higher education.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing undergraduate (Associate’s/2-year college, Bachelor’s/4 year) and graduate programme (Master’s, PhD) at an accredited institution (i.e., college, university, or trade/vocational school)

Study Subject(s): Scholarships are awarded in all subjects.

Scholarship Awards: Scholars will receive $3,000 for use during the 2017-2018 academic year. Each scholar will be given the opportunity to compete for a Thriving Student Scholarship in one of two categories based on level of study. The Thriving Undergraduate Student and Thriving Graduate Student will each be awarded $25,000 (the original $3,000 AbbVie CF Scholarship plus an additional $22,000 scholarship).

Number of award(s): 40 AbbVie CF Scholars will be selected for the scholarship.

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship:

  • This scholarship is designed for students with CF pursuing an undergraduate degree (Associate’s/2-year college, Bachelor’s/4-year college, trade school/vocational school) or graduate degree (Master’s, PhD) during the 2017-2018 academic year. Applicants must have completed high school or obtained a General Educational Development (GED) certification on or before June 2017.
  • Students applying for the scholarships must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in the 2017-2018 school year. Students in their final semester of undergraduate study may only apply if they will be pursuing a graduate program in the 2017-2018 school year.
    All prior AbbVie CF Scholars can apply for the 2017 AbbVie CF Scholarship. However, all prior recipients of the Thriving Student Scholarship (the larger scholarship amount) are ineligible to apply for any AbbVie CF Scholarship again.
  • Employees of AbbVie and their immediate family members are not eligible to apply. Healthcare providers and their immediate family members are not eligible to apply.
  • Each applicant must be: a United States citizen or a legal and permanent resident of the United States; Diagnosed with CF by a physician; Enrolled in or awaiting acceptance from an accredited institution (i.e., college, university, or trade/vocational school) for an educational program during the 2017-2018 academic year.
