Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: The Scholarship is available to UK/ EU students.
  • Entrance Requirements: Applicants must meet the following criteria:
    1. Candidates will normally hold a relevant First Class undergraduate honors degree (such as a BA Hons) and preferably a similar caliber of postgraduate Master’s degree.
    2. If you have been ordinarily resident in the UK for the three year period preceding the start date of your proposed postgraduate program, you may be eligible to apply for a full award, which pays your tuition fees and a maintenance grant. If you are from a European Union (EU) country, other than the UK, and you have been resident in an EU country for a period of three years preceding the start of your proposed study, you may be eligible for a fees-only award, which pays your tuition fees, but does not provide a maintenance grant.
    3. If you are resident neither in the UK nor in another EU country, you are not eligible to apply for an AHRC studentship.

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: If you are eligible, you must complete the University of Edinburgh online application for the Ph.D. program you wish to study by Monday 30th November 2018. Once your application has been submitted, you will receive an email confirmation from the system. This will include a User Name (UUN).
  • Language Requirements: Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.
