The African Institute for Mathematical Sciences in South Africa is excitedly looking for students who use their talents to accelerate scientific discovery. AIMS is inviting them to apply for the AI For Science Scholarship Program for the academic year 2023-2024. 

Scholars from African countries can apply for this scholarship. They must apply for and be admitted in the Master’s degree in Mathematical Science programme at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences South Africa to be considered for this scholarship award. 40 scholars will be selected and be awarded full scholarships.

The African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) South Africa was founded as a joint venture between local and international universities, namely, the University of Cambridge, University of Cape Town, University of Oxford, Université de Paris Sud XI, Stellenbosch University and the University of the Western Cape, located in the suburb of Muizenberg in Cape Town.

Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: Students from Africa can apply.
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: Master’s degree in Mathematical Science programme can be applied for at the African Institute of Mathematical Sciences. 
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • The applicants must be a resident in Africa at time of application. 
  • The applicants must be a citizen of any country in Africa. 

How to Apply

  • How to Apply: Students interested in the scholarship award must complete an online application. All applicants that successfully solve the mathematics and coding problems will be considered. 
  • Supporting Documents: The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
  • Curriculum vitae
  • A motivation letter of around 500 words
  • Academic transcripts
  • Written mathematics questions 
  • Coding problem
  • Admission Requirements: The applicants must have completed a four-year undergraduate degree or a three-year undergraduate degree with an honours in physics, mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering or any other discipline with a strong computational and mathematical component.
  • Language Requirement: The students need not provide English language proficiency proof. However, they will be required to take up English courses at AIMS once admission is confirmed.
