Each year Government of Assam provides various scholarships for needy and meritorious undergraduate as well as postgraduate students.  In Assam, the government has been quite alive to the requirement, improvement and expansion of education in the state.

Nowadays, some of the meritorious students of Assam are obtaining positions for pursuing higher studies in different national and international level institutions and universities in India and abroad.

Types of Assam Government Scholarships

P.G. Research Scholarship

Director of Higher Education is inviting applications through Advertisement and a committee is constituted by Govt. They selected the eligible students for the P.G. Research Scholarship every year. This scholarship is advertised every year in September/October.

Combined Merit Scholarship 

The Merit Scholarship is always published by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council and furnished the same to the Director of Higher Education for selected the meritorious students for awarding scholarships as per marks obtained in Higher Secondary Final Examination. This scholarship is advertised after the declaration result of the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council, Assam

National Merit Scholarships

This scholarship had been discontinued by Govt. of India from April 2007 as informed by Assam Higher Secondary Education council Govt. may be informed accordingly. This scholarship is Discontinued from April/2007.

National Merit Scholarship for Non-Hindi Speaking Students

Through Advertisement; the Director of Higher Education, Assam is inviting applications from the Non-Hindi speaking eligible students. Accordingly the Director of Higher Education, Assam selected candidates as per to marks prescribed in the Advertisement. This scholarship is advertised every year in September/October.
